Digital Energy Cluster at SmartCity Kochi to be the first of its kind in India
Giving a shot in the arm for SmartCity Kochi, the proposed 7.61 lakh sq ft Digital Energy Cluster with a capacity to generate 10,000 jobs will uniquely house oil and gas operators, oilfield service companies and technology providers. It will also consist of remote real time operations support centre for global energy giants.
Kochi: The Digital Energy Cluster, coming up as part of SmartCity Kochi, will be the first-of-its-kind in India, not just by its sheer size but the unique features of the project and that too in a region where there is no oil and gas production taking place. “The Digital Energy Cluster, envisaged in 4.37 acres with a BUA of 7.61 lakh sq ft, will attract major international players of the energy sector and will open up avenues of high-end and highly skilled job opportunities for about 10,000 skilled professionals. Main focus of the cluster will be developing innovations that will help harness affordable energy for generations. The prospective global clients will be oil and gas operators, petroleum and energy related companies, renewable energy leaders and technology providers, thereby making it a unique IT-Energy zone inside SmartCity.
The objective of this cluster, which is to be established by KenCel Infratech Pvt ltdformed by Texas based technology company along with a leading Indian builder, would be also to develop innovation infrastructure that will help harness affordable energy for generations. As part of this, the cluster will comprise of industries that will develop clean energy technology for the energy industry domain and technical training centres. The cluster will provide facilities like Digital Technology Labs, Testing Centres, technology and services hosting infrastructure and remote operations support, like Cloud, infrastructure services, engineering services and supply chain management among others. It will also consist of remote real time operations support centre for global energy giants.

The cluster will also enable a training center and customized curriculum for these companies in its facility to accelerate productivity and to create opportunities to qualified youngsters of Kerala, who would want to be part of the highly desirable energy industry.
