First company in SmartCity Kochi, MariApps, inaugurated its office
Kochi: The first company in SmartCity Kochi (SCK), Singapore-based MariApps Marine Solutions Private Limited, a subsidiary of Bernhard Schulte Shipmanagement (BSM), inaugurated its facility in SCK on Friday. MariApps, with presence in Cyprus, Singapore and India, offers IT solutions to shipping and maritime industry worldwide.
The office was inaugurated by Norbert Aschmann, CEO, BSM Group, in a function attended by officials and staff members of MariApps and SCK. Speaking on the occasion, Norbert Aschmann said MariApps choseSmartCity Kochi because it offers most modern facilities to meet their growing needs. “SmartCitywill offer best working conditions to our employees. We believe that it would motivate the employees more and thereby increase their productivity,” he said. He also expressed the hope that SCK will give a boost to the IT industry in the state.
The company, which started its Indian operations in Kerala in 2010 with 40 employees, presently has 140 employees in its Kochi office. Commenting on company’s expansion plans, Sankar V. Ragavan, CEO MariApps, said “We are planning to increase the number of employees in Kerala by 20-30 percent every year.” He added that the company is expanding its operations in Kerala because of the availability of quality manpower apart from the low attrition level.
BSM, an integrated maritime solutions provider,have 1500 employees in shore and 16000-17000 on board.
Another Singapore-based IT company, Singnet Solutions, will also open its office in the first week of June in the presence of a leading delegation from Singapore including senior officials from various government departments of Singapore.
